» » Coca: Government acted cautiously in Uncía to avoid clashes with 2,000 peasants

La Paz, Abi
The Minister of the Presidency, Oscar Coca, said Saturday that the Government acted with "caution" to recover the bodies of the policemen lynched in Uncía (Potosí) and non-militarized the area to to avoid a possible confrontation with some 2,000 peasants from the region.

"The state vision, vision of the country (we have) differs from other efforts of government. They wanted to militarize the area, but we have chosen another decision that avoided the damaging," he said.

"What would have happened if they acted differently?" Coca questioned, arguing that "had to be very cautious in the presence of 2,000 farmers, more problems have occurred,"

After a lengthy negotiation, ayllus Saca Saca and Cala Cala, North Potosí, surrendered on Friday morning the bodies of the policemen of the Directorate of Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention (DIPROVE), executed in circumstances that remain unclear 23 last May, according to preliminary reports.

Coke said it is not correct to say that the families of the victims acted without government support, among other actors, to recover the bodies, nor is true that President Evo Morales "authorized" receiving these bodies.

"The President urged to be repaid (the bodies) and said that this fact will investigate," said Coca.

He said that "no value" in the withdrawal process to justice those responsible for these deaths, the families of the victims were, necessarily, to sign.

The Minister said that the Law is for all and ruled that the country has "red zones" where the government does not uphold the rule of law.

"I do not discuss these crimes, will not go unpunished. They wanted us to sign (also) an agreement not to investigate the facts, we did not, because these crimes should be investigated, there will be no impunity for anyone and find those responsible" said.
