Cochabamba, Abi
The remembrance of the struggles waged by the Bolivian people for several years for its economic and social liberation must be debated by the new generations to be the mainstay of the process of profound change and democratic and cultural revolution, said on Saturday President Evo Morales Ayma.
The Head of State made these remarks at the opening of the Tenth Extraordinary Congress of the Federations of the Tropic of Cochabamba, which was held in this city.
He said the struggle of the people reached a higher intensity in the decade of the 80, 90 and 2000 with the participation of indigenous peoples, social movements, unions and others against neoliberalism and empire.
Morales noted that in 1995 the village decided to move from a policy union struggle to come to power and to defend and settle the demands of social sectors.
"That way, created a political party like the Movement Toward Political Socialismo.-Instrument for the Sovereignty of the Peoples (MAS-IPSP), which is an additional source because its origin is based on the most neglected sectors of Bolivia," he said.
"The MAS is not a party created to meet the demands of a few, but for all Bolivians," he said.
The President said that the MAS has experienced a steady growth in the village, to the point that since 2005 has won six elections held more than 50 percent of the vote and was responsible for directing a process of change so that Bolivia domain release of the empire.
"In the past the producers of the Tropic of Cochabamba were humiliated and repressed by the Office of the United States Anti-Drug (DEA) and the neoliberal governments, but that made the emergence of a strong social conscience to liberate Bolivia," he said.
He said the MAS, which was established based on social and indigenous movements in Bolivia was gradually growing in the cities. "It's so now we have mayors and governors of cities," he said.
The President said that in 2005, MAS had won three prefects, but this year already has six of the nine governors, as well as the Chairmen of the legislatures of eight of the nine departments.
He reiterated that this policy instrument in the national administration has allowed economic growth to direct social programs to improve the quality of life for all Bolivians, especially those who suffered subjugation and discrimination in the past.
He said he has taken the people's mandate to govern "listening and learning to better meet the demands of the people."
He urged trade unions of the Tropic of Cochabamba "to correct me if I make mistakes and correct them in order to govern well."
He noted that since his arrival to the presidency of Bolivia with the support of the people, the history of Bolivia will no longer write if to highlight the struggle of the unions of the Tropic of Cochabamba.
"The story will examine how a coca growers' leader became President and the measures taken for the good of Bolivia," he said.
"If I make a bad government, the people will never again support a union leader to assume the administration of the country," he said, by highlighting the importance of management.
He stressed the changes taking place in America for election as President of humble origin, as is the case of the Chief Executive of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva,
"Lula da Silva is a trade union that emerged from the metal base and is now a President who did many works for his country and for Latin American integration," he said.
He noted that in the case of Bolivia is another example of how an indigenous leader and a native came to power and rule the people in mind rather than other interests.
